Perspiration allows the body to regulate its temperature. This is why you sweat profusely while sitting in a sauna or steam room. Humans are born with a range of 2 to 4 million sweat glands that help you regulate your core temperature and keep you cool when you get to hot.

2. Lowers Body Temperature-This helps burn calories. When you exercise or sit in a sauna your heart rate will increase and you begin to sweat to keep your body cool and prevent overheating. This aerobic activity will burn calories.
3. Helps Fight Sickness-Getting a fever is your bodies natural way of heating up the core to help you sweat out what is ailing you. Sometimes working out when you are sick will help you get better faster. If you are too sick to work out a sauna or steam room make a great alternative.
The most important component of a good sweat is to keep hydrated. Drink lots of water so you can flush the impurities out of your body and regulate your core temps so they do not overheat.
